Christleton 5k- 9 May 2008
Given the recent heatwave, conditions weren’t nearly as hot as they
could have been for this popular event with its very high level of
competition. It’s not as flat as they
say, with the course consisting of 1 & 2/3 laps of a slope which makes for
a rather grim uphill fourth kilometre, but at least there’s a nice drop to the
finish.
The outstanding veteran Rose Rogers won the LV55 group
in a very impressive 22.53. Jay Jennions
was having her best run yet, flying through the first 4k in 15.07 with
potential to finish under 19 minutes. Disaster
then struck as her right calf blew out, but she was able to finish ninth in
19.15 and hobble to the ambulance for an ice pack. Jay is now training in the pool and is
recovering well but should find out from her physio this week as to whether she
will be good to go back on the roads in time for the
Coventry 10k on 1 June
