The Deestriders were out in force for this popular event, run in warm conditions. With coach Neil shouting encouragement from his bike and the injured Martin Witty at the end to welcome the club in, there were some tremendous performances, with the ladies taking fourth team. Nick Chadwick led the charge for the finish line with a brilliant 1.39.38, closely followed by Paul Hunt in an excellent 1.40.23. Rose Rogers showed the youngsters how it’s done as she took first LV55 with a storming 1.43.01. Outstanding performances came from Lorna Royle (1.47.34) and Mike Norris (1.50.49). Leslie Ingram was very close to a PB with a terrific 1.51.58, knocking some two minutes off her performance at Wrexham in February. It shows how far Phil Taylor has come in a matter of months that he was disappointed with his 1.54.55, a time way beyond him not long ago (although allegedly running 10 miles the day before is never a good idea!!) Katie Wilson smashed the two hour barrier with a quality time of 1.57.16 (trivia- this is six seconds faster than Jay Jennions did her first half marathon (of two) in 2000). Jane Evans anchored the club home with a strong 2.15.45, bettering her performance at Helsby in January. Well done everyone.
