Wilmslow Half Marathon- Sunday 30 March 2008

Race Report

Spring-like conditions and an almost flat course greeted Phil Taylor and Sid Bailey as they took part with 3,500 others in this race.  Sid has in fact a 100% record for completing this course- no less than 24 times and indeed he managed to blag the number 24 to commemorate this most impressive fact.

All sounds too perfect to be true and yes indeed there were a few hills just where they weren’t needed and why does the temperature always have that way of increasing as a race progresses… but that didn’t stop either of our boys as they ran round the course together.  Super-vet Sid took an amazing 17 minutes off last year’s time with a brilliant 1.49.39.  Phil, who’s really stepped up his game and has started training with the faster group on Tuesday nights, has also now joined the sought-after sub-1.50 club with a fantastic 1.49.26, half an hour faster than last year.  He’s got the Blackpool marathon coming up and while he says he just wants to get round, a sub 4.30 looks well within reach.

And they even got a good photo!  Nice job lads.
