11 club members took part in this annual event, which is not to be taken seriously… to the extent that some of them took a wrong turn on the way out to the course and started late as a result! Setting Jay Jennions off first with a projected time of 26.30 might seem unheard of but at thirteen weeks pregnant the idea was it would allow her to run at her current typical pace of 8.30 minute miles. However this is Jay, and this was about as close to a race as she’s going to get for now, so of course she couldn’t quite stick to that and ended up winning in 24.32. Rumour has it she’s getting a handicap of 24 minutes next year… Martin Witty was second with an amazing 20.33, and Leslie Ingram sprinted for an excellent third just ahead of Ady Clarke. Well done everyone, especially as there were some horrendous conditions out there what with wind, rain and lorries.
It was then back to Corus for sandwiches and prizes. Well done to everyone who won club Border League awards for last season. Deestrider of the Year was the much deserving Leslie Ingram, with Val and Mac both worthy second and third. Prizes from the club members were also given to Leslie, Val, Mac, Fred and Neil for their outstanding contributions to the club. Much appreciated guys!
Training will continue in the runup to the holidays but in any event, Merry Christmas everyone, but don’t overdo it too much over New Year as BL4’s on 4 January (ouch)!!
