We'll Go Through Helsby Together

Shell Four Villages Half Marathon - Sunday 18th January 2009

Five Deestriders took part in this enormously popular and well organised event in perfect conditions. Snaking through Helsby, Dunham, Mouldsworth and Manley the route started off relatively level before climbing between 8 and 11 miles, just as a race of this distance gets to its mentally hardest. Rose Rogers managed a very good 1.52.06, even more impressive is the fact that she did this as a LV55. Jason Dwan also took part but for some reason we can’t get hold of his time, sorry! Phil Taylor, Lorna Royle and Leslie Ingram worked brilliantly well together all the way for 1.56. All have completed this distance in several minutes less and no doubt had to motivate themselves that extra bit harder not to give up even when they knew a PB was not to be this time but teamwork was the key. Anyone struggling with the final three quarters of a mile of a race can remember Lorna’s words “It’s only three laps of the track left.” The way these three spurred eachother on epitomises the Deestriders spirit, well done guys.
