As always, great organisation and marshalling courtesy of Neil and company at this popular and well supported event. As always too, the weather was pretty good, without being too hot like last year and it did manage to drizzle a little on the second lap which was nice for the big hill. And the support from the public was tremendous, with a special mention to the man who each year sits on his driveway at the steepest part of the hill, playing motivational music as the runners go by. In the men's race, Ady Clarke managed a courageous 45.20 despite struggling with an ongoing hamstring injury, whilst Phil Taylor was outstanding with a PB of 47.24. The women, who took the prize for the second team, had a terrific day too. Jay Jennions, who came seventh in a very competitive field, is well on the way to a return to form with a brilliant 41.49 less than 4 months after the birth of her son Caleb. Linda Martin has had a lot of injury problems in recent times but did incredibly well with 44.58 and first LV45. Emily Davies took an amazing seven minutes off last year's time with an excellent 50.44 and the ever-present Jane Evans won second LV60 with a quality 57.27. Border League captain Val Blair, who has been out of action with a knee injury for some time, made a strong return with a very good 1.01.07.
