Summer finally decided to pay a flying visit with a vengeance on the weekend of the Flintshire 10k. However, that didn’t stop well over 300 people from taking part in this hugely successful annual event. Neil and his crack team of helpers, including several Deestriders, had their work cut out to process many entries on the day and then funnel exhausted finishers in, timekeep, process results etc but managed well, showing we can do more than just run!
Following the 2.7k Fun Run it was time for the main event, and in action we had five club members to tackle this two and a bit lap course which starts out with a gentle incline and then becomes progressively steeper before dropping back down through the industrial estate. And then you have to do it all again!
In a top quality field, including members of the Great British squad, Steve Thomas placed an incredible ninth in 35.47 and 2nd V40 overall. Linda Martin has struggled with injury throughout 2008 so did extremely well to clock 45.09. Postman Adie Clarke delivered a strong 47.23 whilst Phil Taylor showed he hasn’t let his speed slip despite marathon training with a PB of 49.22. Mike Norris anchored the club with a terrific 50.59. Well done to everyone who took part
